Age-Proof Your Skin with these 5 Daily Habits to Prevent Wrinkles

Wrinkles are one of the dreaded signs of aging. Most of us want to delay the onset of wrinkles, or at least reduce their appearance, for as long as possible. While there are many expensive pills and potions promising to keep your skin smooth and supple, most people can reduce the appearance of wrinkles with five simple daily habits.

1. Skin Care Routine

A good skin care routine is essential for all skin types. Daily cleansing is important for removing dirt, grime, and makeup, which can clog pores and lead to spots, greasy or dry skin.

As part of your daily skin care routine, use a mild cleanser to clean your face and neck, followed by a skin toner to remove any residue. Eye cream and moisturiser should also be used daily to help keep skin nourished and hydrated. Once or twice a week, use a gentle facial scrub to remove dead skin cells and a face mask to pull dirt from the pores.

2. Antioxidants

Harmful free radicals are produced as a result of many different factors, including environmental pollutants, cigarette smoke and stress.Free radicals accelerate the aging of skin cells and increase the likelihood of illness and serious diseases, including cancer.

Antioxidants, including vitamins A, C and E, can neutralise the harmful effects of free radicals. While supplements can help to boost your intake of antioxidants, they are usually unnecessary for otherwise healthy adults. You can increase your intake of antioxidants by eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, particularly leafy green vegetables and berries.

3. Hydration

Poor hydration leads to dry skin that is prone to sagging, wrinkling and certain skin conditions. Increasing your daily intake of fluids helps to keep the skin, as well as the body, healthy and hydrated. Water, fruit tea, herbal tea, fruit juices, smoothies, milkshake and vegetable juices all count towards your daily fluid intake.
Liquid contained in foods, such as fruit, vegetables, soups and stews, also count towards fluid intake. Some drinks, most notably coffee and alcohol, act as a diuretic and contribute to skin dryness.

4. Exercise

Regular exercise improves circulation to the skin and promotes healthier, younger-looking skin. Walking, cycling, swimming, dancing and aerobic activities are all great ways to boost circulation to the skin, while yoga and pilates are excellent for improving skin tone.

Just twenty minutes of exercise a day can make a big difference to the appearance of your skin. Ideally, you should aim to include both aerobic activities and strengthening exercises as part of your fitness plan.

5. Relaxation

Stress and anxiety triggers the release of hormones and chemicals into the bloodstream. These hormones and chemicals damage skin cells and lead to general ill health. While it's impossible to avoid stress completely, you can minimize the impact of stress by learning how to relax.

Meditation, visualisation and other relaxation techniques are great ways to relieve stress. Try to incorporate relaxation into your daily life, particularly during times of stress.

Aging is an inevitable process that takes its toll on your skin, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, skin sagging and age spots. However, taking care of your skin and your general health can reduce the impact of aging on your skin.

Everyday Skin Moisturising Tips for Winter

Switch to Cleansing Cream from Cleansing Gel

Cleansing cream comprises of mild cleansing agents and a higher density of emollients, eliminating the harshness of cleaning agents, along with it leaving your skin supple and soft.  It gently removes the dirt on your skin.

My skin feels: In dry weather, I will use Decléor Cleansing Cream - Face & Eyes.  I love the super soothing, calming and revitalizing ingredients, Angelica and Geranium Essential Oils, which restore moisture to skin and improve the blotches caused by dryness.  I use it for wiping makeup residues and cleansing face, 1 step for a complete face cleansing.  It saves my skin from dehydration due to over-washing.

Using Lukewarm Water to Wash Face

Hot water will strip off the natural sebum protection of skin while cold water cannot soften the epidermis for an effective face cleansing.  Lukewarm water is gentle to your skin and it does not induce any undesirable reaction to skin.   Apply moisturizers to skin when your skin is still moist after washing, as water evaporates on skin and leaches the moisture from your skin.

Select skin-care with Humectants or Emollients

Always look for big words for skin moisturizing, such as Hyaluronic Acids, Collagen, Glycerine, Aloe Vera, Honey, Rose, Lavender, Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin E…

1 week to younger looking skin - Anti-aging and Rejuvenating skin-care

Sounds incredible to have younger looking skin in 1 week!  In a long run, a proper beauty and health maintenance is the only way to turn back the time and reverse the aging process.  Taking anti-aging nutrients externally to your skin and living a healthy lifestyle create an instant effect to restore the glow and radiance to your skin.
I call it miracle magic serum.  This Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule from Missha really surprises me!  It strengthens my skin’s original power for a prompt improvement of skin’s conditions.   The lactic acid fermented ingredients, Bifida, Lactobacillus and Lactococcus, are DNA repairing agents, eliminating accumulated cell damages and fortifying new cells to reveal younger and fresher skin. I start incorporating this ampoule into my night beauty routine to stimulate skin’s natural healing system during sleep.  My skin feels reborn in the morning!

After the ampoule is deeply absorbed, applying the face cream with different kinds of anti-aging nutrients for a diverse collection of anti-aging properties.  I choose High Concentrate Coenzyme Q10 Moisture Cream which contains an effective dose of CoQ 10 protecting collagen and elastin from free radicals and resulting in an outstanding face lifting.  In the morning, I integrate this cream with sunscreen for a better sun protection.  CoQ10 helps neutralize skin oxidation caused by UV rays.

For a weekly intensive facial treatment, EVE LOM Rescue Mask is my favorite!  All the naturally occurring minerals work the best to draw out the impurities from skin and meanwhile to soothe sensitive, dry and reddish skin.  One of specialties of this mask is that it wakes up your tired eyes.  Just use it as a normal wash-off eye mask.  One of the active ingredients, Camphor, stimulates blood circulation, eliminating dark circles and bags under your eyes.  For the best rejuvenating result, having a regular deep clean enhances the skin’s absorption of nutrients and thereby anti-aging nutrients can permeate much effectively into clean skin.
Take charge of your skin’s age!  Age is nothing but a number.  As long as you aspire to maintain your beauty and health, you can be an ageless beauty.  Not forgetting, anti-aging nutrients need to be taken externally and internally.

Girls’ Heartthrob of all time – Dr Hauschka

Elegant, classic, delicate, nourishing, caring, thoughtful…  If I have to suggest a skin care brand which embraces all these adjectives, I will intuitively say ‘Dr. Hauschka’.  Will it be your answer too?  This girl’s heartthrob utilises flower power from nature to pamper your skin.

I have sensitive and combination skin; my face cream has to be thin and light to avoid build-up of grease and oil.  I tried Dr. Hauschka Moisturizing Day Cream and fell in love with its flowing and thin texture.  It keeps my skin hydrated and moist the whole day, and thus my skin doesn’t generate excessive sebum.  For the comparatively dry areas, like cheeks, I just apply a bit more.  The botanical ingredients, Anthyllis Vulneraria and Calendula, support the skin’s healthy moisture balance and make it soft and supple.  After a full day out, my skin still looks fresh without a build-up of oil on my face!

You see the watery texture?
It gives your skin a dewy and moist touch!
A little goes a long way!
It smells mildly floral.

Facial mask is the dessert that my skin savors!  I love the healing and revitalising effects of Dr. Hauschka Rejuvenating Mask.  It not only pumps up the moisture, but lightens the marks and spots on my face.  On the affected areas, I put a thin layer of this mask and leave it overnight.  After a few uses, my acne marks are almost invisible and my skin tone looks more even, bright and fresh.

After being exposed under the sun, I would also use it to prevent any freckles and spots appearing.  No one would realise that I have spent a whole day on the beach.  I always bring it with me when traveling to hot and sunny countries.  It is always better to restore your skin health before the signs of sun damage appear.
It is a decent hydra-boosting sleeping mask and very easy to apply with its creamy consistency.  Extracts of Quince Seed extract and Wheat Germ oil are very essential antioxidants to repair skin damage and promote new skin cell generation.
Why am I a loyal fan of Dr. Hauschka?  The skin care of Dr. Hauchka is prepared with a thoughtful selection of organically grown plants, free of synthetic elements.  It really transfers the powers of nature directly to your skin.
