Makeup Tips to Perfect Your Look

There is no denying that well-applied makeup makes a positive difference to how you feel and the impression you give off by boosting confidence, adding instant glamour to your appearance, and helping to create an aura of sophistication. Given the benefits, it is in your interest to make sure you get the best out of your cosmetics. Here are three tips to help you do this.

1.
When applying mascara, use the tip of the wand on the outer eyelashes.

It is a minor step, but one that will enable you to fully coat those difficult-to-reach lashes, avoid getting product on your skin, and create a more professional-looking finish with greater lash definition.

2.
Turn your attention to your smile. To perfect your pout, prime your lips before applying lipstick. This should prevent your lip color from bleeding or feathering (settling into the creases in your lips), and keep your lipstick in place for longer, which means you won't need to keep reapplying it.

You will find a whole range of lip primers on the beauty counters in your nearest department store, but you don't need to go to the expense of buying a lip-specific product. You can use foundation or concealer as a primer instead.

3. Let the shape of your face dictate the way you apply blush and then establish where on your cheeks to use the product. There are numerous online guides to help you in both of these areas, so it isn't difficult to learn what will work for you. Alternatively, visit one of the beauty counters at your local store. Staff will usually be happy to offer advice or a free consultation. Once you understand what suits your face, you are all set to use blusher to complement it.

There is nothing tricky about any of the above tips, so you don't need to possess the skills of a professional makeup artist to follow them. It takes just a few tweaks to your usual routine to maximize the benefits of wearing makeup.

Tips to Avoid Clumpy Mascara

Mascara is a makeup bag essential if you want to accentuate your eyes, but unnatural 'spider leg' eyelashes that result from clumpy mascara make them stand out for the wrong reason.

Here are some tips to avoid this makeup mishap.

First of all, it is essential to ensure your lashes are free of the previous day's eye makeup before you get started. If there are remnants of old mascara around your eyes, you are likely to end up with clumps when you apply a fresh coat. Use a good eye makeup remover to fully clean your lashes. It is also a good idea to use an eyelash comb through your lashes as this will define and separate them.

The second tip is to leave at least thirty seconds between applying coats of mascara. This should ensure the product is dry before the second coat is added and avoid your lashes sticking together on reapplication. Even better, to bypass the waiting stage, invest in a single-coat mascara.

LANCÔME Virtuose Precious Cells High Definition Curves & Length Mascara has a unique 3D Prism brush and advanced lash-care formula; lashes are instantly extended, curled and separated to create an astounding wide-eyed gaze. This mascara extends lashes' life cycle to visibly regenerate lashes.

Additionally, replace mascara after a maximum of three months. Using old, dried-out mascara will almost certainly lead to clumps. What is more, over time the bristles on your mascara wand become less effective in defining lashes. Even if the tube is half full, throw it away after three months. Your eyes will thank you.

Also, clean any excess mascara from the wand before even thinking about bringing it to your eye area. If the brush is carrying too much mascara, the product will go on overly thick and cause clumps. Before you begin, wipe the wand on the rim of the tube to prevent an overload of mascara.

Guerlain Cils d'Enfer Maxi Lash Volume Creating Curl Sculpting Mascara features an extraordinary
combined action of three polymers: the first is coating, the second is softening and the third is setting.
From the very first stroke, they act together for a simultaneous result in order to plump up and curl the fringe of lashes in a lasting and even way. With its bevelled, facetted shape, the brush controls and sculpts curves to perfection.

Finally, when you are putting on mascara, move the wand quickly through your lashes to ensure an even coat. If your movements are too slow, you risk thick, uneven lumps forming on your lashes. A bit of practice is all it takes to achieve the desired swift, sweeping movement.

You do not have to put up with messy-looking mascara any longer. Follow the five simple tips above, and you will be rewarded with smooth, silken eyelashes to die for.

Recreate the Look: Selena Gomez’s Glamour

Selena Gomez is young, but she knows a lot about how to look beautiful. She’s been blessed with a very beautiful face and physique – and she knows it. Whether it’s the seductive or fresh faced look, Selena can carry it very well.

If you want to know the secret behind her glamour and look as beautiful as her, you can take a look at this list. It can help you recreate her looks without any pressure.

Seductive smokey eye makeup

Selena has natural big, dark eyes. The smokey eye makeup can make them even more mesmerizing.

● To add drama to your eyes, you need to choose an eyeliner color that matches the color of your eyes.

● As a rule of thumb, dark eyeliners don’t go well with light colored eyes and light eyeliners aren’t recommended for dark colored eyes. Opt for a matte black color if you’re unsure. It’s the safest shade you can start with.

● Use the eyeliner to line your waterlines. Build up the color on your outer lower lash lines and smudge the lines using your fingertips. Use the same eyeliner to line your upper lash lines.

● Apply coats of your favorite mascara for an added effect. You can sweep the brush from the roots to tips of lashes.

● To finish the look, use a nude shade of lipstick and top it off with a clear gloss. If you prefer, you can always go with pink.

Tips: To make your look more seductive, you can pull your hair back to a shiny slicked hairstyle. This allows your face to be revealed and more attention will be drawn to your eyes.

Fresh-faced, youthful look

To recreate Selena’s youthful glow, you can simply follow these steps:

Start off with a fresh, cleaned face. Make sure your skin is hydrated before applying any cosmetic products.

Choose a foundation with a full coverage to even out your skin tone and hide away any blemishes and discolorations.

Set the foundation using a translucent setting powder. This will help your foundation last longer.

● For a more radiant look, you can apply a highlighter on your cheekbones. You can also do the same on the bridge of your nose.

● Accentuate your eyes by applying coats of mascara. You can also apply some highlighter on the inner corner of your eyes. It will make your eyes look brighter and more awake.

● To achieve a healthy flushed look, baby pink blush is the best option. Brush some on the apples of your cheeks.

As for your lips, you can simply swipe some pink lip gloss.

Tips: This style looks best with laid back hairstyles. You can try Selena’s simple do by pulling the upper half of your hair into a ponytail (an half-up hairstyle) and curling the ends for a sophisticated look. As for any loose strands, you can tuck them away with a few bobby pins.

Brand rave... Benefit

Ahhh, as a typical girl, we just can't get enough of Benefit! What's not to like about the cute brand? It's fun, its packaging rocks, its products awesome and their names always amuse us to no end!

Benefit was founded in 1976 by a pair of twin sisters - Jean and Jane. It was a beauty boutique in San Francisco with a whimsical candy store atmosphere. "Who says makeup has to be serious to be good?" they said. The twins then successfully built Benefit Cosmetics into a global beauty brand, with over 2,000 counters in more than 30 countries.

These are our all-time and new favourite Benefit items:

We love this product so much! And we're naturally a fickle bunch, especially when it comes to cosmetics. But this stain, which we DO use on both our cheeks and lips for the most natural yet alluring blush and pout, has us hooked for five years now! We just keep going back to it. And despite using it every day, it lasts us for a good year and half per bottle - talk about value for money!

Psst, do you also know the legend behind Benetint? Jean and Jane created this in 1977 for an exotic dancer who requested something to make her nipples look pretty and pink. "The sexiest flush you can get from a bottle" soared to cult fave status... today it endures as a favourite of celebrities, makeup artists and girls all over the world. Well, we hear ya!

Benefit High Beam is a pink pearl liquid highlighter leaves a young, radiant, fresh complexion on all skin tones. Apply on top of makeup to your T-Zone area and cheekbones. For a sheer overall radiance, you can also blend it with your liquid foundation or moisturiser.

We've came to be acquainted with this product only recently but we're blown away by the natural subtle glow it provides when applied very sparingly above your cheekbones and at the inner corners of your eyes. There was a day where we had very little sleep the night before and just a dot of High Beam on our cheekbones and our eyes' inner corners, viola! Instant radiance!

Have you smelt this product and the rest of its range before? So fresh, so light - we feel a little smile curling up on our lips every time we apply it to our face. This eye cream fades dark circles and helps smooth fine lines for brighter, younger looking eyes. It contains a peptide complex known to help restore elasticity and firmness, a blend of hydrating botanical extracts including apple extract, known to help boost collagen, and loquat extract, known to help protect the skin from free radical damage.

With a big, bad brush and a rich, black formula, Benefit BADgal lash mascara is like wearing a set of false eyelashes without the glue. With perfect waterproof! After applying it on, we have gorgeous and seductive lashes - so dope!

If you want sexy, smoky, cover-model eyes and perfectly groomed brows... here you go! Benefit Smokin' Eyes Makeover Kit contains:

Imju Dejavu: Bigger and brighter eyes

Last night, I tried out the new Imju Dejavu Fiberwig Lash Knockout Mascara, the result is soooo good that I decided to make a video of it to show you how good it is. But first of all, some photos:

The mascara is incredibly light, it feels like there nothing inside, so just want to let you know when you receive it, don't think that it's a defect product with nothing inside, it's just the material of the container which is light.

The applicator is straight, just like a normal mascara, it doesn't have the curl shape or anything fancy with the design, which I think is good, because I'd rather the brand focus on the function and quality rather than the design of the applicator.

And finally, how does it perform?

It's easy to apply, and it doesn't produce clumps like many other mascaras, so you won't feel that your eyelids are "heavier". And see...my left eye is bigger and sharper! (And I haven't applied eyeliner yet! So I am sure it would be even better with eyeliner)

Don't you wanna buy one and try it yourself?

Mascara Comparison: HR VS Revlon

This is the first time I do any product comparison, and I think it's quite clear from the image which is the winning product. Helena Rubenstein won by far, then why did I buy Revlon? Because one day I found that my beloved HR was lost, and I was in a rush, so I just went into a shop to buy Revlon Lash Fantasy Mascara. After using it for the first time, I immediately realized how much I miss my HR Lash Queen Mascara (Waterproof). Why?

First, there are 2 sides on the Revlon mascara, the white one as base, and then the other side to put on top, the base is supposed to enhance the volume of the lashes. But it didn't work on my lashes, maybe I didn't put enough? (My lashes are not short ones) I did make sure I cover all lashes before applying the mascara though, anyway, after applying the black mascara, apart from being clump free, I can only see small effect and not-so-volumous eyelashes. Whereas the HR mascara, although it doesn't have a base coat, the lashes are instantly thicken and lengthen. Undoubtedly there are a bit of clumps compare to Revlon, but if eyes look bigger and sharper, I guess a bit of clumps don't matter, right?

Sometimes, you really have to spend more to have good results.
